Enterprise Video Communications Platform

MediaPlatform Director, an add-on to IVT MediaPlatform, allows Flash-based webcasting of live video/audio streams from multiple remote presenters, live screen demoing from remote sources, and pre-recorded video/audio. For example, a live webcast originating in New York can include presenters from all over the world. The director of the webcast can switch seamlessly from presenter to presenter or play a pre-recorded video from their custom library. Remote presenters see an indication on their computer screen whether they are in broadcast mode or standby mode, and when they are in broadcast mode, they simply look into the video camera/webcam and start speaking into the microphone. The presenters can broadcast themselves with video and/or audio or easily show their computer screen to the audience, and have the ability to chat directly with the director via text-based messaging anytime during the event.

An Interface for Controlling and Switching Between Multiple Video Sources
MediaPlatform Director is the control interface for multiple broadcast streams, i.e., geographically dispersed locations or different camera angles of the same event. MediaPlatform Director uses a switchboard to organize multiple video sources and switch to any of those sources, controlling what the viewer sees. In addition to source switching, the MediaPlatform Director interface also gives the director control over a remote presenter's bandwidth, video settings and encoding source (video, audio or screen capture). The video source can be live or prerecorded, and all streams are delivered in Flash. The MediaPlatform Director interface uses a native Flash encoder, allowing the director to also be a presenter.

Conversion of Video to Flash
MediaPlatform Director also has the capability to convert other video format content to Flash format as well as store the Flash content. Thus, previously recorded rich media webcasts can be converted to Flash. As with all IVT MediaPlatform content, MediaPlatform Director allows webcasts to be archived for delivery as video-on-demand presentations, which can later be indexed, searched, and viewed by anyone using IVT PrimeTime.

MediaPlatform Director Installation
The MediaPlatform Director add-on requires a standard IVT MediaPlatform license to operate and enable the MediaPlatform Director functionality with the other components of IVT MediaPlatform. MediaPlatform Director is completely integrated with LiveEditor. MediaPlatform Director licenses are named licenses and are assigned to specific individuals. MediaPlatform Presenter licenses are needed to enable different locations to participate in events with multiple remote presenters. Each location requires one MediaPlatform Presenter license which connects to and is orchestrated by MediaPlatform Director. MediaPlatform Presenter locations do not require a regular IVT MediaPlatform license. MediaPlatform Presenters are floating licenses and can be used by different people at different times.

Technical requirements: Mediaplatform Director requires Flash Player 9, and if the director is also presenting, a video camera/ webcam or microphone; presenters require Flash Player 9 and video camera/ webcam or microphone. See IVT MediaPlatform for system technical requirements.
